Project Veronica
Behind every home is a story – and Veronica’s was truly special. Her house had been in the family for over 80 years, built by her parents and filled with decades of milestones, gatherings, and quiet moments that shaped their lives.
Twenty-five years ago, Veronica purchased the home from her parents and continued caring for it with her husband, Grant. For as long as she could remember, she had dreamed of changing its colour. But out of deep love for her father – who preferred the original look – she kept it unchanged.
Grant, a jack of all trades, repainted the house over the years, keeping it protected and beautiful. But as time passed and Grant retired, maintaining the exterior became too large of a job to manage alone.
Even after her father’s passing, Veronica kept the house just as he’d remembered. But gradually, she realized that making it her own didn’t erase the past – it added to it. Choosing a new colour became a symbol of her journey: honouring her father’s legacy while embracing her own.
The Maple Mark team was honoured to help bring Veronica’s vision to life. The project required careful preparation to protect this cherished property for years to come. We began by pressure washing and began scraping away all flaking paint to reach the bare wood, then we applied a full coat of Grip Seal Primer over the bare wood for maximum durability.
Finally, we sprayed two coats of Dulux premium exterior paint, creating a rich, lasting finish ready for PEI’s coastal seasons. The result is a stunning transformation – a timeless home with a fresh, new dramatic look that embodies Veronica’s personality, representing her family’s legacy, and stands strong for the next generation.
Grant’s Caddy Shack
As part of freshening Caddy Shack’s exterior, our team painted a star on the shed entrance– a small tribute to the true star behind Caddy Shack. It stands proudly, representing his creativity, humour, and generosity that neighbours remember fondly to this day.
Fifteen years ago, Grant decided to turn their backyard shed into something special. With his love for golf and his natural skill with repairs, he started a small side business fixing golf clubs for friends and neighbours.
He named his workshop “Caddy Shack,” a playful nod to the classic comedy film Caddyshack – a movie that always made him laugh. Just like the film brought joy to its viewers, Grant’s Caddy Shack became a place that brought joy to the community. People would stop by for a quick repair, a chat about their golf game, or simply to catch up with Grant and share a laugh.
